Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences Empty Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences

Post  Mornie Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:45 pm

Mornie stretched and rubbed his eyes before leaping to his bed. He laid down and tried to sleep without another word. He knew he was too excited to sleep right away, but before long he would pass out.

-----

Nakara woke the next morning to the sound of Mornie humming and rather loudly stuffing items in a bag. He would seem happy as he packed what he assumed he needed, some rations and survival tools. He packed a map of the greater area and some mapping tools, in case he got lost. He hadn't read what Jazilyn had written to them yet, so he was preparing with as much as he could.

He smiles and waves to Nakara as he realizes she is awake. He didn't speak a word, nor did he give her time to speak before he hopped up and headed up the stairs and returned with some food for her and himself. He scarfed it down with one hand as he inspected everything he packed and played with his dagger and its sheath, making sure everything was perfect. He was often quiet like this when he was excited. He didn't know what they were doing, but he had come to enjoy being a "good guy" for now.

As he had just finished scarfing down his food, a call came from upstairs. Jazilyn called Nakara and Mornie into her office, without hesitation Mornie dropped whatever he was working on and slowly made his way upstairs to the office. He recalled the new rule against his eager running, and he knew the kitchen would be rather busy at this time. He waved to the mouse boy as he made his way into the office, he didn't bother to ask him where he was staying yet, as he didn't want to bother with small talk.

When Nakara made it into the office, there would be an unusually tall man with a crooked grin standing next to Jazilyn. Mornie would simply be staring up at him, as though he was amazed. The man wore a suit made of dark leather, covered in pockets and straps all over, and the handles of weapons would be visible all over his body. The man had dark hair and his eyes lacked pigment, along with his skin, so they appeared gray at first but as he looked at Nakara they would appear to shift to a deep red. His crooked grin grew as he looked at the two now that they were side-by-side.

Jazilyn nodded to Nakara and looked to the tall man, "Thank you for coming, Kabe. This is Mornie and Nakara, you will accompany them." She turned her attention to Mornie and Nakara, "This is Kabe, he is an expert in the field and I have hired him to make sure things go properly, understood?"

Mornie nodded and kept staring at Kabe.

Nakara had her daggers drawn and the air in the room would suddenly feel hotter than an Indian summer as Nakara's eyes started to look like burning coals again.

Jazilyn looked to Nakara in horror. "Nakara!"

"Want to dance leech?" Hissed Nakara, there was no hiding her sheer disdain for this.... Wretch of a creature in front of her.

Kabe put his hands up and laughed a bit with his eyes closed. His head turned to Mornie as he continued to chuckle, "Feisty one you got there, kid. That's good, very good, they should be feisty, you agree?" He continues to chuckle, not speaking to Nakara.

Mornie reaches toward Nakara with one hand in front of her and one behind, in kind of a side-hug grab. He was trying to stop any violence, but he hadn't really pieced together what was going on. He spoke to Nakara quickly, "Nakara, Please calm d--" He hadn't finished his sentence before looking up to Kabe, "Wait what?" He shook his head and grabbed Nakara as well as he could, pleading with her to stop.

Nakara Did not heed his words as she past though mornies hand like air as she lunged at the Creature, with her daggers poised, her left one moving up in a crescent moon arc as white fire danced behind her strike.

Mornie yelled, "Nakara!" But before he had even finished saying her name, Kabe had vanished, laughing maniacally as a black smoke replaced where he was once standing. He would be seen right where she was once standing. Mornie found himself awkwardly hugging the man. Kabe had one of his hands under Nakara's ankle, lifting quickly with one finger extended in an attempt to cause her to fall on her face.

Nakara Swung her other leg around with her lightening fast reflexes, She used her other hand to help her rebound foward as she spun and glared at the Creature.

Jazily would look to Nakara and then Mornie and Kabe.

"CHILDREN!" She would glare at mornie. "Control her before she hurts herself..."

Nakara looked at Jazilyn as if she would kill her for even saying something so offensive.

Kabe took her kick right under his chin, forcing his head back hard enough that his head actually hit the door frame behind him. He let out a soft chuckle through his grin, sounding all to pleased by the tone in his voice as he looked at Mornie, "Well... Aren't you a cuddly one?" He chuckled a little louder till it turned into a cackle, he was clearly all too happy at the moment, perhaps because of the excitement.

Mornie looked at the man wide-eyed for a second and then looked down at his arms, which were still wrapped around Kabe. He pulled his hands back and up, rather startled and unsure what to say, "S-s-s..." He doesn't get any words out, and really wasn't sure what to say, he felt a little creeped out on top of everything. He swallowed hard and quickly turned to Nakara, "Please, this is not the time or place!" He wasn't good at issuing commands, and didn't attempt to use their bond consciously.

Nakara looked to him, "Who are you kidding? He is a blood thirsty killer, Who kills innocents just because they look like a good treat! What if he gets hungry and decides that one of the patrons would be a good meal? What if it was you? or me? " She moved her hands around and fire sparked from her finger tips and snaked around into a whip as she lashed out towards Kabe.

Kabe rather effortlessly lifts Mornie and uses his back as a shield for Nakara's fire whip. Mornie lets out a small cry as his back is hit and he flails, being totally unprepared for that. His flailing is rather weak, but he manages to slap Kabe a few times in the face and kicks him in the chest a couple times.

Kabe tries to speak as he gets slapped and kicked, "Don't you know--" SMACK! He gets slapped and tries to continue, "That its not good--Ooooh--" He doesn't sound so hurt as perhaps pleased as he is kicked in the chest, "To play with fire inside." He chuckles a bit and gets slapped and kicked again before he moves Mornie to the side so he can look at Nakara again, "Besides, innocents are no fun to play with, no challenge at all, and this one here..." He looks to Mornie as he continues to flail, "No thanks, I don't like mixed beverages." He chuckles a bit and gets kicked in the face again, "Ooooh, thaaaank you." It is impossible to tell if he actually enjoyed being kicked or if he simply was coping with the pain that way and being rather sarcastic. He looks to Nakara for a moment and smiles, "And I won't drink your blood, doll." He lets out a small chuckle again and avoids being hit by Mornie's flailing.

Jazilyn had used this time to sneak up behind Nakara and Whisper a spell in her ear so softly that only Nakara heard, but it was enough to make Nakara Turn white and slip to the floor in a sitting position, she unable to make even the slightest sound.

Jazilyn then turned her now Furious eyes to Mornie and Kabe, " Kabe, set the boy down... Mornie, Did you not read the letter I gave you last night? If you don't Help control her she will lose her wits and do more damage to her allies than to her enemies."

"Nakara Honestly... You act as if this Gentleman Has wronged you, which I feel very strongly he has not... So do not be so quick to judge."

Nakara Simply sat there listening, there was anger across her face, but she was unable to do anything else.

"Kabe, Don't provoke them. Mornie is a good boy And Nakara.... well... She'll have to learn to behave or you can restrain her with force yourself." There was no kindness in Jazilyns voice today, she was Clearly upset at Nakara's anger, though she knew it was going to happen, she figured that once Nakara was free Of Rajah she might be able to let go of her hatred for those of a.... less than holy presence.

Kabe looked up to Jazalyn and then to Mornie and then back to Jazalyn. He then looked to Nakara as Mornie continued to flail, though less violently. He looked at Mornie and gently set him down and rubbed his head, messing up his hair, "There you are." He says with a toothy grin, revealing his fangs and looking rather creepy, like he was trying too hard to be nice.

Mornie instantly relaxed as his feet touched the ground and he just kinda stood there and blushed a little, feeling rather embarrassed. He felt like he had just suddenly been lulled and his posture and tone reflected. "Th-thanks," he said kindly. He then shook his head and regained his wits as he turned to Jazilyn, "N-no... Nakara still has them in her pants and she went to bed and I didn't want to reach into her pants and..." He frowns a little, "Sorry." He lowers his head to her.

Kabe, on the other hand, chuckled at Mornie and whispered something in his ear, "You sure you didn't want to reach into her pants?" While the other two likely didn't hear, Mornie's face turned bright red and swallowed, trying not to show his embarrassment, though it was obvious.

Nakara tossed Mornie the Leather letter that was theirs, inside were faces and names and locations, but very vague details. This was of course so if they were caught and tortured they would never be able to reveal their plan . There was a letter to Mornie about Controling Nakara by any means necessary even if that meant going against his own nature and causing her to do what she should by force, Jazilyn also adding that if he did not Nakara would most likely get herself killed.

They were to travel to a town that was a two and a half week journey by foot in good weather, to a small town where Their other members where already headed to help to be a part of their charade. There were no more vital details than that, but it was pretty clear, act your part, Kill the bad guys save a few kids head home.

"Stop teasing the boy Kabe... Nakara you can speak now. "Jazilyn snapped her fingers and all the color came back to Nakara and she gasped as if she had been holding her breath the whole time. "Cooled off yet?"

Nakara simply passed her a dirty glare and then looked to Kabe rather Vehemently. "Yes... I'm fine..." Though she did Not look it, the feeling of rage was slowly starting to leave, being replaced with extreme discontent.

Kabe leaned over Mornie's shoulder as he read through everything. Mornie then nodded and looked up to Jazilyn, "S-sorry... I won't let it happen again." He puts all the stuff away, except the note about controlling Nakara, he keeps that in a pocket on his person. He then hands the folder back to Nakara and looks down, feeling like a bit of a failure at the moment, mixed with the overflow of Nakara's bad mood effecting him through their bond as well, it made him feel rather down for the moment.

Kabe, of course, was never-better as his grin turned to Jazilyn and he nodded, "Of course, ma'am." He chuckled a bit and looked down to Mornie, "This is gonna be a joy, a real pleasure." He does what can only be described as an excited giggle, like a school girl, perhaps.

Jazilyn looked to the group. "You boys go and pack your things... Nakara and I need a little girl talk... Alright?" Jazilyn almost purred as she beamed up to Kabe.

Nakara sighed and leaned back on the ground. "I could do with the lecture Jazz."

"No lecture... I promise." Though her words didn't sound so promising.

Mornie nodded as Kabe opened the door and they both left. After the door closed Kabe followed Mornie closely, uncomfortably so as he towered over him constantly. As Mornie headed downstairs, Kabe smiled to the mouse-boy who was passing by, "Awww, its so cute... I could just eat it all OH!" He chuckles and catches back up to Mornie, who only felt even more creeped out now, especially with this guy following so closely. He didn't really trust him, but he trusted Jazilyn.

As Mornie got downstairs and began packing again, Kabe sat on Nakara's bed and smelled it for a second, "Oh, she smells lovely, what a lucky boy you are..." He turns to Mornie and grins. Mornie was scowling at him at this moment, losing even more respect for the man with that comment. Kabe puts his hands up, "Ah, you're going to have to get better, kid, we can't have you flailing on the mission, I'll show you a few things. Oh, are those pastries I smell?" He hops up and wanders halfway up the stairs before coming back down.

Mornie just stares at him for a moment, "Weren't you going to...?" He doesn't finish his sentence, he just points at the stairs. Kabe shakes his head and crouches down to be level with Mornie, the height difference was rather profound before he did, "No, I'm not hungry." Mornie closed his eyes for a moment and exhaled slowly, rather confused, "Well don't you need to pack?" Kabe shook his head and chuckled as he lifted a small empty pouch, "Already packed, see?" He cackles a bit and turns the bag upside down before dropping it on the floor and wandering upstairs to get a pastry, despite his claim that he wasn't hungry.

Mornie stood there confused for awhile before finally shaking his head and returning to packing.

Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences Empty Re: Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences

Post  Nakara Fri Jan 28, 2011 5:02 am

Nakara walked back into the room now, She was dressed compleatly differnt than she normally would have. It was clear that Jazilyns Girl talk was more like a Nakara dress up session.

Nakara was dressed in furs, her hair was brushed and braided back nicely. Her face had clearly been scrubbed as there was no soot left, and she looked almost beautiful for a change. Less rough than she normally did. Her boots where new, fur lined and clearly made for winter, along with her gloves and Jazilyn had even though to convert her Utiltly belt to something more lady like. There were also two rather beautiful pendants hanging from Nakara's neck. One was a gem of protection and the other seemed Magical though it was no easy to tell what it might be, though the Emerald caught nicely in the rooms dim light.

Nakara grabbed her bag and stood up looking to Mornie. "Jazz Made us some Elvan rice cakes and Some dried meat to take with us, I was also told to remind you to keep your water skin underneath your Jacket or else it will freeze." Nakara Sounded as if she had been defeated her voice was rather flat but She no longer seemed as upset as she was before.

Mornie finished packing the bag he was working on and nodded a bit, not yet looking to Nakara, "Right, of course. Thank you for reminding me, I won't forget." He lifts the pack and turns around, looking a bit stunned as he looks at Nakara, "Ah, you look like a girl." The words had escaped his mouth before he could stop them. He quickly pulled his hands to his mouth and turned rather red. He muttered into his hands a few stutters, but no actual words as he tried to correct himself.

Nakara looked to Mornie with a mix of anger and hurt, With a sigh she walked up the stairs once more heading back into the kitchen not saying another word.

It wasn't until the mosey boy walked up to Nakara and handed her a bag of dried food for her trip that her mood lightened. "I...I...Well... You... Ummm... Please come back... Ok?" The boy smiled crookedly up towards Nakara though it was clear he was still extremely nervous around her. He was no longer jumping out of his skin at the sight of her.

"Thanks. I'll be back in a month or so, so try and do your best till then." Nakara messed up his hair for a moment with a smile and stuffed her part of the rations into her bag before sneaking over to the tea pantry and taking a bit of tea to store away for later use.

Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences Empty Re: Chapter 3: Minor Inconveniences

Post  Mornie Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:40 am

Mornie sighs deeply and turns around, going back to his packing feeling rather depressed. He looks at Kabe's empty bag, which he left behind and shakes his head. He slowly finishes his packing and gets dressed for the winter, remembering to put his water under his coat. He heads outside and waits for the others in silence.

Mornie knew he would be first to go out, but he wanted time to think. He knew he was insensitive to Nakara, but he had trouble understanding anyone else's feelings, and was hopeless when it came to women, even though he had a bond with Nakara. He knew he had upset her, and it terribly depressed him, but he really had no clue how to fix the problem. He knew it was silly to try and avoid her for now, as they were about to go on a long trip together. However, Mornie had no other defenses right now, and had no idea how to approach her on it, so he just waited in the cold for now, hoping she would forget.
